"Daimosaan is my interpretation of the Cantonese name for the highest mountain range located in Hong Kong. These mountains are perpetually lush in vegetation, unpredictable in weather conditions and a place of mysticism and superstitions. To this day, many native villages of the region still maintain their ancestral tombs on these mountains. It is also a place for school excursions and family outings. The image of Daimosaan evokes many childhood memories and symbolizes a profound attachment to what was once my home with its distinctive culture, people, and attitudes. Having emigrated from Hong Kong at a young age, I have rarely gone back to visit. However as I am growing older, I realize how much this “Pearl of the East” has shaped me into who I am."
